Ujjain in 1 Day: The Perfect Mahakal Darshan Itinerary
Only one day in Ujjain? You can still cover all seven major temples if you start before sunrise and follow this proven route.

4:00 AM — Bhasma Aarti at Mahakaleshwar
Booked in advance, this is the spiritual heart of the day. You'll be out by 6:30 AM with a sense of deep stillness.
7:00 AM — Kal Bhairav Temple
Kotwal of Ujjain. Offer madira (liquor) which the deity miraculously consumes from the silver plate — a phenomenon scientists have failed to explain. 25 min visit.
8:30 AM — Harsiddhi Mata (Shakti Peeth)
One of 51 Shakti Peeths. The twin deepstambhs lit with 1,011 lamps during Navratri are world-famous. Peaceful, less crowded mornings.
10:00 AM — Ram Ghat & Shipra Snan
Take a holy dip or a sankalp bath at the same ghat where the Simhastha Kumbh happens. Sit for 20 minutes — the breeze off the Shipra is healing.
12:00 PM — Sandipani Ashram & Mangalnath
Where Krishna, Balram and Sudama studied under Guru Sandipani. Mangalnath is the birthplace of planet Mars (Mangal) — recommended for Mangal Dosha shanti puja.
4:00 PM — Chintaman Ganesh & Kaal Bhairav return
Wrap up at Chintaman Ganesh (the wish-fulfilling Ganpati, 7 km from city). Reach back by 6 PM for the Sandhya Aarti at Mahakal.
