Best Time to Visit Ujjain for Mahakal Darshan (Month-by-Month)
Plan around weather and crowds. October to February is golden; Shravan is spiritually peak but logistically tough.

October to February — The sweet spot
Temperatures 12°C–28°C. Pleasant for the long darshan queues and the open Mahakal Lok corridor. Kartik Mela in Nov–Dec adds a folk fair vibe along the Shipra.
March to June — Hot but doable
40°C+ days, but early morning Bhasma Aarti and evening Sandhya Aarti are comfortable. Mahashivratri (Feb/Mar) draws 10 lakh+ pilgrims — book stay 60 days in advance.
July to September — Shravan, the holiest month
Every Monday (Shravan Somwar), the Mahakal Sawari procession goes through old city. Crowd can hit 5–8 lakh per day. Stunning energy but plan extra buffer days.
Festivals to time your visit
Mahashivratri, Shravan Somwar Sawari, Nag Panchami (Nagchandreshwar darshan — open only once a year!), Hariyali Amavasya, Kartik Purnima, and Simhastha Kumbh (every 12 years, next in 2028).
